Capacity Building to Facilitate Implementation of the Effort Sharing Legislation, with Focus on Ex-post Evaluation and Policy Lessons Learned

Ricardo Energy & Environment, Öko-Institut and VITO held a set of webinars on behalf of DG Climate Action to help strengthen Member States’ capacity to implement policies and meet objectives under the Effort Sharing Regulation.

The first two focussed on implementation of policies in two Effort Sharing sectors: transport and cross-cutting. The third introduced the recently developed guidance document on the ex-post evaluation of policies and measures.

We are pleased to announce the dates for the last two workshops 23rd September in Denmark 2020 and 28th October 2020 in Latvia.

Wednesday 23rd September 2020, Copenhagen, Denmark

The project team delivered the second capacity building workshop on the Effort Sharing Regulation on the 11th February 2020 in Brussels. There were 50 attendees consisting of policy makers and non-government organisations from a number of member states including Belgium, Czechia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland and Spain.  Along with attendees from Iceland. The two sectors were transport and agriculture covering the design and implementation of policies aiming to reduce GHG emissions.

On Tuesday 15th October 2019 the project team delivered the first capacity building workshop on the Effort Sharing Regulation for policy makers, non-government organisations and business experts in Bucharest with 41 attendees.

The first policy workshop will be held on the 15th October 2019 at the European Commission’s office in Bucharest. It will focus on the development of national policies for reducing GHG emissions in the transport and agriculture sectors, sharing practical experiences from policies makers from different Member States.  The registration is currently open until 8th October 2019. Places will be limited so early registration is advisable.
